Term 3, Week 1 – Special Edition

TERM 3 RUNNING CLUB

The new and improved morning Running Club is starting in Term 3! All students in PP to Year 6 are encouraged to join Miss Uglow on the Primary Green every Tuesday morning (commencing Week 2, Term 3) to run as many laps around the Green as you can! No matter what your ability is, come on down to earn House points, improve your fitness, build your confidence and run your way towards a healthier lifestyle.

Each participating student will be given their own Running Club lapathon card to count their laps every week. Students will earn 1 Running Club House Point for every lap they complete around the Primary Green. Overall Running Club House Points will be announced at assembly each week, with the winning House announced at the end of the term. Running Club lapathon cards must be left with Miss Uglow at the end of each session.

We will meet on the Primary Green every Tuesday morning from 8.00am onwards. Come dressed in your sport uniform or normal school uniform and running shoes. You can still participate even if you are not dressed in your sport uniform! Everyone is welcome – you do not need to sign up to participate in this club. Run at your own pace and come and go as you please. Parents/guardians and younger siblings are encouraged to join in too.

Our first session starts on Tuesday 2 August (Week 2, Term 3). If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact hannah.uglow@ststephens.wa.edu.au

We look forward to seeing you!

Term 3, Week 1

Wanjoo!

Welcome to Term 3! We hope that your family had a lovely break and that everyone feels rejuvenated for the term ahead. As most of you would be aware, NAIDOC Week celebrations took place over the school holidays. However, our Primary Team has put together a series of activities to celebrate NAIDOC Week this week at St Stephen’s School 🙂.

To kick start our celebrations, I had the privilege of reading the beautiful story “Finding Our Heart” by Thomas Mayor at our Assembly this morning. Following the story, I have sent our Primary students on a mission for the week; they need to explore with staff, WHAT is the Uluru Statement and WHAT they need to learn from it, as well as HOW they can “help to find our heart”. Every year level is on a mission to study this beautiful book and together with the teachers, will complete several activities to broaden their knowledge and gain a deeper understanding of the Aboriginal People and their culture. I encourage you to have some conversations with your little ones this week. I think you would be surprised as to how much they know, will learn and in return teach you 🙂.

We look forward to an amazing Term 3, filled with wonderful, shared learning experiences!

Blessings
