Our “Buckets of Love” are back!

Starting Over Support (SOS) are an offshoot of People Who Care. They do not receive any funding and rely on volunteers and donations. Our Captains will be distributing buckets to all classrooms this week and we would appreciate if our generous community could donate any items from the suggested list . Flag Retirement Ceremony

On Friday 4 August the Year 5 students participated in a “Flag Retirement ceremony” following the protocols set by the Commonwealth Government.  We held the ceremony in the Library and had a short presentation on the history of the National flag. We followed the instructions given on the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet website and cut up the damaged flag into the three main components of Union Jack, Federation Star and Southern Cross.

Mrs Langley gave a short talk on national pride and respect for our country and we finished by singing the national anthem. After the ceremony, the Year 6 flag bearers took the new flag out to flagpole and hoisted it into position.

The new flag has been given to us by our local member, Tracey Roberts.

Little Athletics is a fantastic way to keep fit and builds the foundation skills of running, jumping and throwing, which are all transferable to other sports. If your child is interested in participating in Little Athletics outside of school, Joondalup Little Athletics Centre is a fantastic local club – https://www.joondalupathletics.com.au The WA Little Athletics season usually runs from October until March.

If your child is going to be absent on Friday 18 August, please advise ASAP via email at hannah.uglow@ststephens.wa.edu.au and absenteecarramar@ststephens.wa.edu.au as this helps with the planning of our event.

We look forward to seeing our students participate in the 2023 Interhouse Athletics Carnival!
