Term 3, Week 1

Welcome to Term 3, our Seussical Jr Production term!

We hope you’ve had a lovely break, spending quality time with friends and family. For those who visited family throughout the state, interstate or overseas, we hope that you’ve enjoyed some special time with your loved ones, creating lasting memories. A special welcome to the many new families joining us this term! Our school is blessed with a beautiful community, and we know that everyone will make them feel welcome.

As per Mr Andrews’ email last term, Mrs Jennifer Langley has been appointment to the role of Deputy Head of Primary (Teaching and Learning) and has now officially started her new role. Mme Isabelle Pilote will continue as Deputy Head of Primary (Pastoral Care). Mrs Langley and Madame Pilote look forward to working together with our amazing Primary staff to continue to deliver the excellent academic and pastoral programs which our school is known for. Please do not hesitate to contact them if you have any questions within their respective portfolio.

Finally, we had a lovely time welcoming our students back to school this morning. To celebrate the amazing production our Upper Years students will be delivering later this term, staff dressed up for the occasion! It was amazing to see our students’ smile and watch the surprise on their faces as they came through the doors. We look forward to seeing their performance this term!

Here is to a wonderful Seussical Jr Term!

Mr Andrews, Mrs Langley and Madame Pilote

Rookie Debating Competition

This morning in our welcome assembly we recognised the participation and achievements of those Year 5 and 6 students who took part in our Rookie Debating competition last term. It was wonderful to recognise so many students and to present them with their certificates. Well done to Ashleigh Thiel who was the top debater, to Alexandra Jones and Siyana Kotecha who were the ‘most improved’ debaters over the course of the competition and finally to the ‘MnM’ team who were the winning team for the competition. Congratulations to all students who participated and a big thank you to parents for their support behind the scenes. Huge thanks must also go to Miss Eleanor Glacken for her organisation and running of the competition. We believe out debaters have a bright future, and we look forward to seeing them compete in more debating competitions.

Smith Family Raffle and Stall

St Stephen’s OSHClub would like to thank everyone for their amazing support of our raffle and stall held last week, to raise money for The Smith Family.

We are very proud to announce we raised a massive $450.

A very special thank you to all those that donated to the raffle or stall including our OSHClub families, Hoyts Currambine for the popcorn and our educators, especially Cass for donating her time to help run the stall.

Of course, the super stars of our fundraising efforts were the OSHClub children for their amazing effort over the last 2 weeks in preparation for the stall. Making mountains of playdough, bookmarks, kindness cards and food, the children developed their awareness and empathy for other young people who are less fortunate than themselves and are proud to be able to help The Smith Family create a better future for these children.

For those that would still like to help these children to believe in themselves and achieve their dreams you can still donate by visiting our Smith Family fundraising page at

https://events.thesmithfamily.com.au/fundraisers/ststephensoshclub/jag

All donations over $2 are tax deductible. We also still have bags of playdough and bookmarks made by the children available at OSHClub through to the end of the term (unless sold out).

And now to the Winners…….

Electric Toothbrush – Naisha Kasad

Hamper no1 – Natalia Kadic

Hamper no 2 – Caileigh Van Deventer

Term 2, Week 8

OSHClub

Here at Junior Adventures Group, we believe that every child deserves a chance. That’s why we are so proud to partner with The Smith Family. We are determined to help create a better future for disadvantaged children in Australia and we need your help!

St Stephen’s OSHClub children and educators have discussed ways we can help raise funds for The Smith Family and have decided to run a Dream Run Raffle and stall. Raffle tickets are available for $2 each or 3 for $5 before and after school at our OSHClub transportable near the large oval. You can view the prizes to be won when purchasing your ticket(s).

We would like to invite all families to visit our stall after school on Friday 23 of June outside the school canteen with our raffle to be drawn by Madame Pilote at 4:30pm. The stall will have a variety of cakes, popcorn, playdough, cups of homemade lemonade available and other items for sale. Prices vary from 50c to $2. We look forward to seeing you there!

In the meantime, please feel free to visit our Smith Family fundraising page https://events.thesmithfamily.com.au/fundraisers/ststephensoshclub

All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will receive a tax receipt via email straight away.

Sadly, 1 in 6 Australian children are living in disadvantage and through no fault of their own, don’t have access to the learning essentials they need to succeed at school. By donating to our fundraising page today and participating in our raffle and stall, you can help these children to believe in themselves and achieve their dreams with Junior Adventures Group matching all donations, dollar for dollar, up to $50,000.

Thank you so much for your support.

Warm Regards

St Stephens OSHClub

Arts & Academic Festival 2023 – Schedule

St Stephen’s School Primary School Rock Band

It is with great excitement that the music department announces the birth of the St Stephen’s School Primary School Rock Band. The band will be comprised of students in years 4 to 6 who will rehearse one morning per week before school with the view to perform at school events, assemblies and concerts. This will be a fun opportunity to put all those hours of instrumental (and vocal) practice to good use and to learn the art of making music with others! This is a trial and it will run over Semester 2, with continuance in 2024 to be determined during Term 4.

To be part of this exciting trial, students will need to:

CURRENTLY be taking (and will continue to take) individual lessons on their instrument. These individual lessons may be taken with either an external or internal tutor and proof of this will be required.

  1. Attend an audition in which they will need to play a song/piece of their choosing that is at least 30 seconds long. This should demonstrate the level of the performer as accurately as possible. (Don’t stress too much! It’s not a test!)

We are looking for musicians who can play the following instruments:

  • Piano/keyboard
  • Drums
  • Guitar (acoustic or electric)
  • Bass Guitar
  • Vocals (singing)

We are currently fielding expressions of interest so that we can get everything running smoothly. If you are someone who plays an instrument (or sings) and you would like the chance to be part of our rock/pop band then please do one of the following by Wednesday 14 June:

  1. Send an email to gina.craven@ststephens.wa.edu.au with the following information:
  • Name
  • Year/Class
  • Instrument you play
  • How long you have been undertaking lessons with the instrument
  1. Collect a form from the Reception Office, complete and return to the Reception Office.

Disabled Parking

A friendly reminder that disabled parking bays are strictly dedicated for ACROD permit holders. Your cooperation in this matter is truly appreciated.
