Parent Information Evening

Thank you for the parents who attended last nights ‘Supporting your Child in a Digital World’ parent information evening. Just a couple of points to reiterate

What is Cyberbullying:

Targeted and persistent behaviour that demeans, intimidates and embarrasses, can be an unbalance of power, repeatedly picking on someone. We need to make the distinction is it conflict or bullying?

Digital Residents:

Digital residents are familiar and comfortable with digital technologies, use them as part of their everyday lives, and therefore – to a greater or lesser extent – tend to take them for granted. A Digital resident engages with technology and is actively involved in a variety of applications, this term moves away from the unconscious bias of age with a focus on individual performance and student-centred digital learning.

Student Device Use: (Survey Results)

61% gaming

34% surfing the net/watching videos

2% Coding

2% Creation (story writing)

Teaching and Learning

Microsoft Teams

St Stephen’s School will be utilising Microsoft Teams to support our online teaching and learning.

Microsoft Teams is part of our Office 365 Suite, which all students have access to, and will allow for video conferencing, communication and a shared collaborative workspace. It can be used on multiple devices with various Microsoft Teams applications.

Below a detailed “How To” guide on downloading and accessing Microsoft Teams. Please click on this link Microsoft Teams to download and print. Alternatively, read and follow the instructions below. Please do so at your earliest convenience.

Existing students password information was emailed out to all parents via a SEQTA email April 2020 and will be resent again shortly, new students would have received an email with this information via St Stephen’s Support Helpdesk.

When you login to Microsoft Teams for the first time, you may have to click on “Hidden Teams” to view your child’s Team and once visible, click on the Ellipsis (… dots top right) and select “Show”.

Should you need or require any further assistance please contact 92432160 or email Jenny.mallis@ststephens.wa.edu.au and include your preferred contact details.
