Children’s University – 2022 Graduation

Dear CU families, the time is fast approaching to the 2022 CU Graduation at ECU in November.  Our graduation date will be in the evening of either Tuesday 29 November or Wednesday 30 November.  The date will be confirmed early next term, however it is suggested that we keep both dates free in our diaries.

The final date for accruing hours towards the 2022 graduation is the end of this term, Friday 23 September, however an update on hours achieved thus far will be sent to ECU next week.

As we approach this deadline, passport stamping sessions can get very busy.  I recommend coming and getting activities signed off as you complete them, rather than saving it all for the end.  I would hate for someone to miss out on graduation just because we didn’t have time to officially record the hours.  Passport stamping sessions are every Tuesday morning from 8.15am in the Primary Forum.

Looking forward to another wonderful graduation in November.

Term 3, Week 2

A word from our Head of Campus

I would personally like to extend my sincere gratitude to the whole community who have made my first official week at Carramar such a welcoming and positive experience. I look forward to the weeks and months ahead in which I will learn so much more about our school.

Whilst it has been only one week back for our students, our staff have been back for two. Our first week was filled with planning as well as professional and personal development during the days of our annual Staff Expo.

Last week we marked NAIDOC week in the Primary School with a number of classroom activities designed to celebrate and learn about those who were custodians of the land we live on for over 70 000 years. I acknowledge and give thanks here to Noongar elders, past present and emerging, for whom Lake Joondalup and it’s surrounds were a place of abundance and safety. It is a great privilege to lead a school that resides on that land, where no doubt many young people of the Noongar nation were educated in the stories and ways off their ancestors.

Thank you all once again and best wishes for Semester Two.

Bennet Andrews

Head of Campus

Uniform Standards

A friendly reminder that as per our school uniform standards, students’ hair must be neatly groomed. Fringes need to be above the eyebrows, held back off the face and, if long enough, tied back. Head must not be shaved or have obvious unnatural colouring. Accessories must be in School colours of solid red or navy blue or white only, not patterned.

We thank you for your understanding and support with this school policy.

Term 3, Week 1 – Special Edition

TERM 3 RUNNING CLUB

The new and improved morning Running Club is starting in Term 3! All students in PP to Year 6 are encouraged to join Miss Uglow on the Primary Green every Tuesday morning (commencing Week 2, Term 3) to run as many laps around the Green as you can! No matter what your ability is, come on down to earn House points, improve your fitness, build your confidence and run your way towards a healthier lifestyle.

Each participating student will be given their own Running Club lapathon card to count their laps every week. Students will earn 1 Running Club House Point for every lap they complete around the Primary Green. Overall Running Club House Points will be announced at assembly each week, with the winning House announced at the end of the term. Running Club lapathon cards must be left with Miss Uglow at the end of each session.

We will meet on the Primary Green every Tuesday morning from 8.00am onwards. Come dressed in your sport uniform or normal school uniform and running shoes. You can still participate even if you are not dressed in your sport uniform! Everyone is welcome – you do not need to sign up to participate in this club. Run at your own pace and come and go as you please. Parents/guardians and younger siblings are encouraged to join in too.

Our first session starts on Tuesday 2 August (Week 2, Term 3). If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact hannah.uglow@ststephens.wa.edu.au

We look forward to seeing you!

Term 3, Week 1

Wanjoo!

Welcome to Term 3! We hope that your family had a lovely break and that everyone feels rejuvenated for the term ahead. As most of you would be aware, NAIDOC Week celebrations took place over the school holidays. However, our Primary Team has put together a series of activities to celebrate NAIDOC Week this week at St Stephen’s School 🙂.

To kick start our celebrations, I had the privilege of reading the beautiful story “Finding Our Heart” by Thomas Mayor at our Assembly this morning. Following the story, I have sent our Primary students on a mission for the week; they need to explore with staff, WHAT is the Uluru Statement and WHAT they need to learn from it, as well as HOW they can “help to find our heart”. Every year level is on a mission to study this beautiful book and together with the teachers, will complete several activities to broaden their knowledge and gain a deeper understanding of the Aboriginal People and their culture. I encourage you to have some conversations with your little ones this week. I think you would be surprised as to how much they know, will learn and in return teach you 🙂.

We look forward to an amazing Term 3, filled with wonderful, shared learning experiences!

Blessings
