Dear Parents and Care Givers,
In Years 3-6 last week, we had a wonderfully successful Interhouse Music Festival which saw over 100 students demonstrate their musical talents through voice and instrument. Thank you so much to Mrs Thorne and Mrs Elek for organising the whole day. Also, congratulations to Alethea who won the 3-6 portion of the event.
In our Worship and Social/Emotional Learning lessons, we are looking closely at the idea of self-control. Mr Steven is encouraging all of our students to use a traffic light system of “Stop, Think, Act” when they find themselves in situations that cause them to be ‘shaken up’. Feel free to use this same communication with your children at home.
Here is a short summary of some of the events that are taking place this week across the ELC and 3-6.
Tuesday
Interhouse Athletics Carnival – jumps and throws
ELC Piano Recital
Wednesday
ELC tour morning
IPAD parent information evening Year 5 2021

DROP OFF TIMES
This is just a timely reminder to please drop off and collect your children at suitable times. In the different parts of the Primary School, staff are on duty at slightly different times, supervising the students. Please familiarise yourselves with the relevant information below.
ELC
There are no staff on duty before 8:15am.
Please note that OSH Club is available for all Primary students at the ELC, for before school and after school care. Their website is www.oshclub.com.au
YEARS 3-6
There are no staff on duty before 8:10am. Students who arrive between 8am and 8:10am may sit quietly in the Library. If at all possible, we would appreciate students arriving at school after 8:10am as we are unable to offer supervision until then. In the afternoon, staff are on duty from 3:10pm – 3:30pm. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of our children, we ask that students are collected before 3:30, or that parents are present after 3:30pm to provide supervision.
Thank you for your kind consideration in this regard.
Kind regards,
Hannah Lockwood-Jones and Jarrod Heglund
TAKE A LOOK AROUND
Do you know anyone who might like to join the St Stephen’s School community? Our wonderful ELC is hosting a Spring morning tour next week, Wednesday September 9 from 9.30-11am where families can take a look around at all we have to offer, chat to staff and see what a hive of activity the Centre is for all of our little people. There are still a few spots available for our Kindy class in 2021.
Spread the word and direct those interested to register to attend on the School website.
Year 2 Choir and Primary Chorale Music Assembly
Friday 11 September ELC
Year 2 parents are welcome to attend the assembly this Friday to hear the combined efforts of year 2 choir and Primary Chorale. The children are sounding wonderful and are looking forward to sharing their music with you.
Book Fair
Please note that the Upper Primary School (3 – 6) will be having their Scholastic Book Fair in the week beginning 7 September.
2020 Inter House Athletics Carnival
Tuesday 8 September – jumps, throws, 800m
Thursday 10 September – sprints, team games
Parents can you please read below in preparation for the two day carnival.
URGENT – greater numbers needed due to fewer high school helpers available – please notify me at daniel.parker@ststephens.wa.edu.au if you are able to help with the Tuesday jumps and throws. Help would simply involve measuring with the aid of high school students and a class teacher. There are two sessions – session 1 from 8:35am to 10:40am and session 2 from 11am to 1pm. You can volunteer for one session or both sessions. It will be possible for you to disappear for a moment so that you can witness your child’s efforts in another event.
Please notify me at daniel.parker@ststephens.wa.edu.au if your child is unable to participate on the Thursday sprints and team games day. I am currently trying to create the program and it will save me significant time if I am made aware of any students that will not be participating. Bearing in mind that this is a compulsory event.
*further information will be released once the program is completed
