Term 3 – Week 9 – Notices

Dear Parents,

Well, here we are in the last week of Term 3. What a wonderful term it has been, with numerous camps, carnivals and concerts. We have been blessed with so many opportunities for our students to demonstrate the incredible abilities that they have.

I want to ask you to continue to encourage your children to ‘Stop, Think, Act’, as they find themselves in tough situations. Mr Steven gave a great demonstration of this recently, with a bottle of soft drink representing us in moments that cause us to get a bit shaken up. Of course, the hilarity of Mr Steven and the erupting liquid wasn’t lost on the students, but neither was the message of being able to stop and let ourselves settle before we blow our lids. See if your children can show you the simple actions of ‘Stop, Think, Act’.

As the term wraps up, here are a few events to keep in mind:

Tuesday

NIPSSA Inter School Athletics Carnival 3-6

Wednesday

NIPSSA Inter School Athletics Carnival 3-6

Year 6 Jam Poetry Evening

Thursday

Kaboom Percussion Performances

Friday

ELC Worship Kindy and Pre-Primary

Assembly 4B

End of term 3 – students return Tuesday 13 October

We hope and pray that you have a blessed break with your families and we look forward to seeing all of the students again in Term 4.

Kind regards,

Jarrod Heglund and Hannah Lockwood-Jones

Music Notes

Kaboom Percussion Music Incursion

We are very excited to welcome Kaboom Percussion to our ELC and Primary School this week. These local percussionists perform on a huge variety of percussion instruments and are very creative and humorous in their interpretation of well-known music. They have over 85 million views on their youtube channel. Unfortunately due to Covid restrictions, we are unable to invite parents to these performances this year but you can check out some of their videos here:

2020 Interhouse Music Festival

Congratulations to all performers who participated in the Interhouse Music Festival this year. The adjudicators, Hannah Herriman and Marc Osborne, were very impressed with the high standard and variety of performances. We were delighted to see so many brass and woodwind performers, excellent string, guitar and piano playing, some wonderful vocalists, beat boxing, the harmonium and percussionists. There were also some lovely family groups who went to a lot of effort to rehearse and perform together. It was a particular thrill to have several students compose and perform their own music.

The winning house for 2020 was Alethea.

The Falconer family currently live in rural Mozambique where they serve the local people with everything from fixing things, to health care. Originally with IT and occupational therapy backgrounds, Scott and Bek and their four children, Levi, Josiah, Katelyn and Eliana live amongst the locals and give their time and energy to serving and assisting them to find identity, purpose, hope and freedom in life through God. They are interested in justice and empowering others to be change agents in their community.

Mon Parker, is an Aussie midwife working with under privileged people in Myanmar (Burma).  She specialises in the delivery and care of infants along with healthcare for their mums and the local community.

Her work is largely about seeking to improve medical services for the community and establishing reliable and accessible clinics with supportive, teaching, diagnosing and referring.  It’s also about building relationships with these communities and having an enormous amount of fun sharing God’s love and Gospel with the people.
