The week ahead is a shorter week as we have a public holiday due to Queen Elizabeth II passing.

There is still a lot of things happening as we finish this term. Please ensure that you look through the items above and read your class blog to keep up to date on all upcoming events and activities.

Today we had our non-uniform day. On these days we raise money for charities that the community supports. This is an important part of our Service Learning – Serve One Another. The students will hear about/from the charities we are supporting at Worship and in class. This provides our students with the opportunity of hearing about others in need and the impact of funds raised can make. This term we are raising money for Harvest Ministries and Ping Pong-a-thon (International Justice Mission) .

As we finish off this term, both Andrew and I would like to thank all the staff for their care and service at our school. The staff have had a very busy term and provided the students with additional learning activities and community events. These events take a lot of planning and support from the admin, education staff and property services team. Thank you to all those people.

We wish you all a very safe and happy school break. We look forward to seeing you all on your return to Term 4.

 Kind regards,

 Hannah Lockwood-Jones & Andrew Johnston.

Term 3 – Notices – Week 8

As I’m sure you have all heard, school will now be closed on Thursday 22nd September 2022 as a national day of mourning has been declared following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

In relation to events across the ELC and 3-6, this will cause minimal disruption, other than students missing out on the usual classes of that day. School will resume as normal on Friday 23rd September, which is the last day of term, and we will be holding assemblies in both the ELC and the 3-6, before we break for the school holiday.

As we look across this week, we have some exciting things happening. Firstly, we have our Y5 camp, which will commence on Wednesday at Woodman Point. It promises to be a great experience for the children.

Our Year 1 children will also have their camp day on Friday 16th September, where they will spend the day at Caversham Wildlife Park followed by activities into the evening back at school.

On Thursday 15th September, Our Year 2 Students will also be taking part in the next phase of their transition into Year 3 with an orientation afternoon. The students will come into the 3-6 space and take part in some lessons from our specialist teachers.

Term 3 – Notices – Week 7

Over the last 2 weeks, it has been wonderful to see the school community springing into life with a series of fantastic events.

Firstly, we had our amazing ‘Book Week’ where the students took part in some great reading experiences with the week culminating in our dress up parades. The enthusiasm for this both in the ELC and 3-6 was incredible.

We also enjoyed our Father’s Day picnic and afternoon tea. It was wonderful to see so many parents, grandparents and special guests turn out and spend time with the children.

Finally, we held our 3-6 athletics carnival last week on Tuesday and Friday. Thank you to all of the parents who turned out to support. You helped make it an amazing event and congratulations to Carana, who were the winning house across the 2 days.

As we look forward to the final 3 weeks before the end of term, there seems to be no sign of slowing down. Please see below for a list of important events in the next week.

Thursday 8th September 2022 – PP Tinkering incursion, Y2 Grandparents Day

There were a number of students that were unavailable for competition for valid reasons. These students are welcome to challenge for inter school positions. For students wishing to challenge, I will need notification at daniel.parker@ststephens.wa.edu.au. A time for the challenge will be organized once I am notified, however it will need to occur this week.

Final individual results from our carnival can be found at the link below. There were a number of records broken last week and an update will be released when I have completed the changes.

Finally, I would like to sing the praises of all the parents, high school students and staff members that helped make our two carnival days possible. It never ceases to impress me how willing everyone is to step in and help. That serving nature in this school makes it the great community that we all love.
