Firstly, congratulations to the students who took part in the ELC nativity. It was a wonderful performance and really helped us get into the Christmas spirit. Thank you to you all for supporting your children with lines, songs and costumes.
As we begin the final full week of the year, there is a lot of excitement with the final events over this week and next. None more so than our Primary Presentation Night on Friday. Please see below for details of the event.
Date: Friday 1 December 2023
Location: Carramar Sports Centre, 50 St Stephens Crescent, Tapping
Start Time: 6.45pm.
Time students need to be seated: 6.20pm
For those families who are new to the school and might be unfamiliar with the format of the evening, this is a wonderful time of celebration of our students. Throughout the evening, staff acknowledge academic excellence, academic endeavour and exceptional citizenship among each year group. Students will also be performing choral items that they have been learning. It is expected that all students attend from Years 3-6 and awardees from Years 1-2, however, should circumstances arise and this is not possible, please advise your child’s teacher and administration.
On the night, please ensure that you arrive at Carramar in time to get the students into the Centre and seated by 6.20pm at the latest. Reserved seating is allocated near the front of stage for our Year 1 and 2 awardees and their parents . All year 3 and 4 student are to proceed directly to the choir risers. We will start promptly at 6.45pm and should conclude by 7.45pm.
No printed tickets are required for this event, however, please make a booking to ensure adequate seating is provided – https://events.humanitix.com/dppe2023
We look forward to you joining us for this evening of celebration.
Andrew Johnston and Hannah Lockwood-Jones
Dental screening will take place on Tuesday 28 November for the Pre Primary, Year 1, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 6 students. Only children enrolled in the School Dental Service will be screened. It is a quick growth and development check to look for any obvious concerns and is not a full dental examination. If you have any queries please contact Marmion Dental Therapy on 9447 1275.
SSS Gifted & Talented Program: Parent Information Resource
Dear Primary parents/guardians,
Following our Parent Information Session, please find below the link to the Powerpoint resource presented by the School’s GAT Specialist, Catherine Riddle.
Please click on this link: GAT Parent Info Session final.pptx
Synopsis:
What is Gifted and Talented (GAT) Education?
In Education, “Giftedness [is defined as] potential that is distinctly above average in one or more domains of ability and talent refers to performance that is distinctly above average in one or more fields … to a degree that places an individual at least among the top 10% of his or her age peers” (Francoys Gagne, 1999).
How are GAT students identified & selected?
At St Stephen’s School, the Year 7 students, who are invited into the Gifted and Talented Program are identified and selected by an external consultant, in consultation with the GAT Specialist, Mrs Catherine Riddle. Selection is based primarily on objective data; with subjective input from teachers and parents also considered.
