As we begin the final full week of the year, there is a lot of excitement with the final events over this week and next. None more so than our Primary Presentation Night on Friday. Please see below for details of the event.

Date: Friday 1 December 2023

Location:  Carramar Sports Centre, 50 St Stephens Crescent, Tapping

Start Time: 6.45pm.

Time students need to be seated: 6.20pm

For those families who are new to the school and might be unfamiliar with the format of the evening, this is a wonderful time of celebration of our students. Throughout the evening, staff acknowledge academic excellence, academic endeavour and exceptional citizenship among each year group. Students will also be performing choral items that they have been learning.  It is expected that all students attend from Years 3-6 and awardees from Years 1-2, however, should circumstances arise and this is not possible, please advise your child’s teacher and administration.

On the night, please ensure that you arrive at Carramar in time to get the students into the Centre and seated by 6.20pm at the latest. Reserved seating is allocated near the front of stage for our Year 1 and 2 awardees and their parents .  All year 3 and 4 student are to proceed directly to the choir risers. We will start promptly at 6.45pm and should conclude by 7.45pm.

No printed tickets are required for this event, however, please make a booking to ensure adequate seating is provided – https://events.humanitix.com/dppe2023

We look forward to you joining us for this evening of celebration.

17 November – Interschool Cricket (Selected Year 5 & 6 students)

Welcome to Week 6. It’s hard to believe that there are only 3 ½ weeks until the end of the school year. Even though we are coming to the end of the year, the enthusiasm and engagement of the students and staff continues to be as strong as ever, although, we can definitely see some tired faces among the students. A huge thank you to all the staff especially Sarah Mornement for the ELC athletics carnival. We appreciate all the parent support and help. It was a wonderful day for our students.

Over the remaining few weeks, we are continuing to work with and support the students to ensure that we are able to finish the year as well as we started it, particularly through our behaviour and uniform. Mr Steven has been using his worship time with the students to remind them of the importance of being kind, reminding them that God asks us to be kind and forgive, using the Bible passage from Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God has forgiven you” . A wonderful message, and a reminder for our children to continue to show us all the wonderful people they are.

It was lovely to see so many of you at the Christmas Markets on Saturday. It was a very hot day, but that didn’t stop you all from having a great time and coming together as a community. A huge thank you to all of the parents who volunteered their time to help with the planning, organisation, set up, running and packing away of the day. We would like to particularly thank Julie Wookey, Melinda Shreeve and Melanie Emmens for their hard work in the build up to and during the event. These things are never easy and take a lot of time planning and organising so we are hugely grateful for all who gave their time to this event.

As we enter the second half of the term, we know you are all aware that this is a very busy time for our teachers as they are preparing for the end of year. Supporting with events, writing reports and continuing with engaging learning opportunities for the students is particularly time consuming. Can we please ask that you are mindful of your expectations with communication, and meeting requests. If you are wanting to know about your child’s progress, you will be able to see this through the SEQTA releases. There have been several released so far and more to come over the next few weeks. If there is anything specific to note or of concern, the teachers will contact you to keep you updated, before the reports are sent to you.

A friendly reminder, the Kindy outdoor learning area is reset each afternoon ready for the next day. Can we please ask students not to enter the Kindy learning space after 3pm dismissal. Thank you for your cooperation.

Last Day of Term – Wednesday 6 December

This day will be a messy day for our students at ELC and 3-6, therefore students are invited to come to school wearing free dress.

Please note ELC students finish at 11.45am and 3-6 students at 12 noon on this day.

Wishing you a wonderful week,

Andrew Johnston and Hannah Lockwood-Jones
