IT TAKES A VILLAGE
The children are loving our new ‘Village’ in the primary school and borrowing lots of books.
It would be wonderful if we could have some parents come in and help us out with shelving the books and enjoying a coffee.
Please talk to one of our friendly ‘Village Staff’ on 9243 2485 or email Belinda on belinda.bastion@ststephens.wa.edu.au
ELC SCHOOL BANKING
Date: Friday mornings
Time: 8am to 9am
Venue: ELC Cafe
School banking is open on Friday mornings from 8am to 9am. We have already commenced in our cool new location in the ELC cafe. Please feel free to grab a coffee and have a chat with other parents as your children do their banking.
Account opening day
Date: Friday, 11 March 2016
Time: From 8am
Venue: ELC Cafe
Jenny Lee from CommBank will be visiting our school from 8am on Friday 11 March for any new students wishing to open an account.
This year we have a new range of bush themed rewards for our bankers as well as a new competition. For your child to be in the running to win a family holiday to Australia Zoo in Queensland, meet the legendary Bindi and Robert Irwin and have personal up close encounters with the cuddly wildlife, they simply need to make 15 deposits by the end of term 3. Students are automatically entered once eligible and there is no minimum deposit.
Happy banking! We look forward to serving you in 2016.

ELC SCHOLASTIC BOOKCLUB PROGRAM
The Scholastic Book Club program is again offered by ELC parent volunteers in 2016. Book Club catalogues will be sent home twice per term offering a range of books and learning resources for sale from $1. The ELC library receives a commission from all sales.
The new format all-ages Issue 1 catalogues were distributed last week. Orders need to be submitted by the end of the school day Friday 19th February (this week!) to qualify for free school delivery.
Parents are encouraged to order via the Scholastic LOOP (Linked On-Line Ordering and Payment) system via the Scholastic App or by following the prompts at www.scholastic.com.au/LOOP. Please be sure to select St Stephen’s Early Learning Centre, Padbury as the SSS Duncraig Primary Book Club is separately managed.
Cash or cheque payments can be submitted by completing the paper order form and leaving an envelope in the Scholastic box on the ELC library reception desk. However please note the library is not always attended and the security of cash payments cannot be guaranteed.
Orders generally arrive approximately two weeks after the closing date and will be distributed via class teachers. “Secret” orders (e.g. gifts) may be collected from the ELC library by arrangement with the Book Club Co-ordinator at duncraigelc.bookclub@gmail.com or text 0403939575.
Looking forward to your support,
The ELC Scholastic Book Club team

Primary Library
Each week every class has a library lesson where they work on oral language and comprehension skills; it is also a time for them to change their library books. Books can be changed at any time during the week as the library is open before school, lunchtime and after school. Each class also has a research lesson where they develop inquiry skills, and learn to use resources, which are authentic and have authority.
Students are asked to provide a waterproof library bag to protect books from accidental spillage in their school bags. Library bags are available for purchase from the library in house colours for $7 each, or from the uniform shop.
If you want another rewarding experience…..why not come in and help shelve books or cover books, or a myriad of other exciting library tasks. This is a great way to get to know your friendly library staff while helping our school.
