ELC Disco Success

We would like to thank everyone involved in the ELC Disco held on Friday 6 September.  The team of volunteers was expertly led by Mrs Kellie Thompson!  Thank you all so much for making this event such a success!

We are excited to announce that a profit of $1100 was made for our fundraising account, and this money will go towards improvements at the ELC.

Once again, thank you to our ELC Community, you are awesome!

Passtab now at ELC and Primary 3-6

Passtab is an induction and compliance program that tracks the movement of visitors across our campuses. It is a fast, efficient sign in and out process for staff, relief staff, tutors, therapists, visitors and contractors. It also helps to ensure all contractors and regular visitors to our School receive a safety induction. The program is installed on an iPad and supported by a Passtab App. The App allows the School to account for visitors on campus in the event of an emergency evacuation.

Passtab iPads have been installed for visitors to sign in and out at the ELC Administration Office as well as Duncraig Primary Administration and other areas of our school. Signing in during the school day is required for parent volunteers spending time on site.  Initial sign up takes a few minutes, thereafter your Quickpin will be established and it is an easy process to sign in and out of the school.  Signing in and out of events, as well as the usual drop-offs and pick-ups of students, is not required.

Thank you for supporting us in this new initiative.

ELC Kiss & Drive – Important Information

Over the past couple of weeks, we have had parents parking in the Kiss and Drive area of the ELC. This has caused problems for other parents that are trying to drop their children off. On Thursday we had five cars parked in the Kiss and Drive area which meant that the area was inaccessible for drop off. Parents were then forced to stop in the road and let their children out. This then affected the flow of traffic coming in and out of the school.

We ask that you please respect others as you drop off your children to school and do not park in the Kiss and Drive area. There are parking places available opposite Kindy and Pre Primary and surrounding the oval.

Thank you for keeping our children and our community safe and for assisting us with the smooth flow of traffic through our school.

Primary K-6 Blog changes

We have been hearing a number of parents voice concerns over the volume of blog posts that come out from the Primary School. In looking to streamline this process, while still offering valuable information to our families, we are looking to make some changes that will come into effect in the very near future.

The main change that you will notice is the reduction in the number of blogs that will be coming out. Each week you should be receiving a whole-primary blog on Monday afternoon and a Year-group blog on Friday afternoon. In the normal course of events, these will be the only two blogs that you will receive each week. With that change, you will also see information from the specialists included on the Year-group blogs, which will relate specifically to those classes.

We trust that this will make the process of keeping up to date with your child’s schooling an easier process. As this becomes the norm over the following weeks, please pass on any feedback to Mrs Lockwood-Jones or Mr Heglund.

Thursday Lunchtime Athletics Practice

Any 3-6 students who wish to put in a little extra training for sprints and long jump are welcome to join Mrs. Baird on Thursday (week 7). We will meet at the Kiss + Ride area at 1pm (before eating lunch) and return to the Primary School in time for period 7. The participating students can wear their sports shorts and shoes for the duration of the day. They can eat immediately after our session.

*Please note that production rehearsals, FIRST Lego League training and any other clubs take priority over this optional training.

Primary 3-6 Entry Way Update

As you will be aware, we have recently had to close off the main entry way into the Year 3-6 space of the Primary School from the ‘Kiss and Drive’. We are pleased to let you know that plans are well underway to refresh this area to again create a lovely, inviting entry into the school. In fact, by the time you read this, the existing structure will have been removed to make the area safe to use again. As the holidays approach, plans to develop the entry further will continue and we hope to have the works complete by the time students return in Term 4.

Traffic Safety

We have recently been made aware of some concerns over the safety of students as they navigate the traffic on Doveridge Drive. This is just a request to please continue to obey the school-zone restrictions and be vigilant in regards to students walking or riding their bikes. Mr Parker has been running bike lessons with our Year 5 and 6 students in recent weeks, and we will continue to encourage their own safe use of the roads too.

Extra- Curricular Activities, Term 3

A huge thank you to all involved in our ‘Extra- Curricular Activities’ during term 3. Next week will be the final week for these activities this year.

Safety in our Primary School

Dear Parents

At the end of last week, our Safety Committee engaged a structural engineer examine our Primary entrance to our Quad area.  Sadly this was deemed unsafe.  Going forward, the recommendation is to remove the entire structure.  We will replace this with a new and friendly entrance to our beautiful Primary School.  We hope to be able to resource the timber to construct a Friendship Bench.

Works in this area will be undertaken over the next few weeks.  Please use the doors to the Village or the gate nearest to the Year 6 classrooms.  Kiss and Drive can be accessed through this gate.   Thank you for your understanding whilst we make our Primary School safe.
